welcome to tectrix!
the technical meaning of the word "tectrix" stems from ornithology; it is used to describe the covert feathers of a bird. though i do consider myself a bird enthusiast, in reality, the inspiration for the site names stems from Andrew Hussie's webcomic Problem Sleuth. this rapidly aging reference definitely gives you an idea of who i was when i created this site - a young teenager who had finally graduated from carrd and was ready to enter the big leagues and code a real website! though it has grown to be a much more impressive project compared to what i started with, i have found a lot of pleasure in having a site of my own and cultivating a fun little community here.
ye old vices aside, i wanted to explain my current goals and visions for the site as they are right now. my first priority, of course, has always been self expression! coming from an isolated rural area, i haven't had a lot of opportunities to express myself otherwise, not counting the many times i've rambled to my friends about my fixations throughout the years. anyway, being able to decorate my own little space with (almost) unlimited real estate to talk about the things i like is a game changer, and i intend to keep using it that way.
speaking of things i like, i'd also like to touch on the mascots of my site. you may have noticed a few cute little creatures hanging around. two main beasts that have been essential to my site's design are Tintin from The Adventures of Tintin and Mametchi from the Tamagotchi franchise (and other iterations of his character). (they don't have a deep sentimental meaning, i just want to pick them up and shake them violently whenever i see them.
that's the basic rundown of my site! thanks for reading! if you happen to be curious on anything or want to know how i made a part of my site, feel free to reach out! i am always very happy to talk to people in the neocities community! :-)
